THE 6TH INTERNATIONAL CONFRENCE

ON LINGUISTICS AND CULTURAL STUDIES (ICLC-6)

HELD BY THE FACULTY OF CULTURAL SCIENCES HASANUDDIN UNIVERSITY

Background of ICLC-6
Faculty of Cultural Sciences

In recent years, the development of language, literature, culture, and education has progressed rapidly. This advancement is evident in numerous scholarly works, including academic articles and contemporary literature. However, studies that integrate language, literature, culture, and education through interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary approaches remain limited.

In fact, these fields can be examined productively through multidisciplinary perspectives. Language studies, for example, may be approached through legal studies, giving rise to forensic linguistics; through social perspectives, resulting in sociolinguistics; through cultural frameworks, producing anthropolinguistics; and through psychological approaches, leading to psycholinguistics. Similarly, literary studies may intersect with ecology to form ecocriticism, with feminist theory to develop feminist literary studies, and with cultural studies to generate literary anthropology. Many local literary products require such interdisciplinary approaches to fully explore their meanings and contexts.

Discussions on local culture are also receiving increasing attention, as local cultures constitute an invaluable part of Indonesia’s cultural heritage. Advancing knowledge in cultural studies therefore necessitates collaboration with other disciplines. For instance, determining the age of artifacts or fossils requires technological tools as well as insights from economics and other scientific fields.

In the context of education, technology-based learning has become increasingly prominent, such as YouTube-based instruction, storytelling through animated films, and other digital learning methods. While these approaches offer innovation, they also present significant challenges, particularly in regions with limited internet access. Consequently, language, literature, culture, and education are currently situated within a landscape of both challenges and innovation.

Responding to these dynamics, the 6th International Conference on Language, Literature, Culture, and Education (ICLC-6) is designed as a scholarly forum to address emerging challenges and innovations through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary perspectives.
